The Sister District Project (SDP) is hiring a production associate to support the development and implementation of a multi-platform content strategy, including producing creative collateral, keeping SDP digital platforms up-to-date, and being the first point of contact for volunteer questions and troubleshooting around e-mail marketing and social media. This position will report directly to the Director of Communications, but work closely with all departments within SDP, producing content for social media, volunteers, internal use, our training program, and candidates. This is an ideal role for someone with a strong design background, advanced writing skills, digital content expertise, and a passion for getting Democrats elected to office through grassroots action.
Content Creation & Management
Plan, write, and edit content across digital properties including website, and e-mail blasts, and volunteer newsletters.
Develop graphics, infographics, and other creative for social media, events, and other communication platforms.
Develop and continuously update collateral including funder slide decks, one sheets, info sheets on candidates, promotional collateral for volunteers, etc.
Create event and team-specific collateral for volunteers, including logos and event invites.
Create bi-weekly team leader newsletter.
Ensure consistency of messaging and images in all communications and marketing materials.
Curate blog posts from volunteers; soliciting and developing content.
Develop and maintain photo, video, and other digital asset libraries on Box and other internal databases.
Maintain brand consistency through all projects.
Update SDP website (hosted through Squarespace) regularly, including processing internal, volunteer, and candidate update requests.
Propose annual traffic acquisition targets across digital channels based on industry benchmarks, trends, etc. and develop strategy to meet those targets.
Track, monitor, and report on key metrics relevant to online engagement.
Work with PR team and social media manager to maintain digital marketing calendar with key dates relating to electoral cycle, content/stories, current events, holidays, etc.
Provide social media, Mailchimp, and event support/troubleshooting to volunteer team leaders and promote local events.
Assist with special events throughout the year, including creating materials, coordinating logistics, and being responsive to the needs of the internal team and event hosts.
Conduct research/information gathering on potential partnership organizations, Sister District supported candidates and opposition, potential donors, etc.
Administrative support as needed.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Passion for getting Democrats elected across the country.
Experience with digital publishing, including web production best practices.
Substantial experience with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop); presentation design and visual communications collateral creation.
Knowledge of and working experience with HTML/CSS and UX/UI best practices preferred.
Superior writing, proofreading/copyediting skills.
Thorough understanding of social media and e-mail marketing best practices.
Exceptionally polished, professional, and friendly customer service manner, especially when interfacing with volunteers.
Bachelor's degree in a design or communications discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
1-3 years professional experience in design or communications preferred.
Start Date & Location
We are looking to fill this position immediately. Sister District is a fully distributed organization, and the position may be filled from anywhere in the United States.
Commensurate with experience and location. This is an independent contractor position with no benefits. The position is a full time, 9-month position, which runs through December 2019 with the possibility of extension or employment thereafter.
